TPI Golf Fitness Warm-Up
By Justin Barr - TPI Specialist
Are properly warmed up to play golf? If not, you are not only reaching your potential, but also possibly putting yourself at risk for injury.
Players should be performing golf specific exercises regardless of practicing or playing because it creates good habits that provide the player with optimum performance that prepare the body for golf.
Every golfer should perform these warm-up exercises daily to enhance their preparedness to play. This will allow you to have less underperforming rounds and more frequent lower scoring rounds.
Golfers may find the need to increase the demands on the body so using resistance bands, weight balls, weights, and cables can also be including in your warm up.
First, the golfer should prepare at home or in the gym to play. The golfer should feel like they have hit 30 balls without even swinging a club before the reach the course. The golfer will also have a better mind/body sense before they have even touched a club. Simply put, for the golfer that wants to play better and feel better there’s no excuse not to perform the warm-up before they play.
Once on the course, you will feel better prepared to play your best! In my 10 years of working with golfers I have not had 1 person give me negative feedback about doing my warm-up because they feel physically better and ready to play.
By creating a strong foundation of movement patterns these habits will enhance your swing patterns so you will play and feel your best self.
As a TPI Golf Fitness Professional, observing and listening to the golfer allows to gauge what should be utilized for optimum play on any given day. Golfers who prepare before playing with the warm-up or with additional exercises will play better as a result. Working with a TPI Golf Fitness Professional will enhance your habits, ability and success.
